Movies on my mind

Paris fashion week has come and gone and yet - all I can think about is movies. This year the runway showed dark, sometimes veiled looks with lots of material in fabric embelishments that made me squeel with delight but right now all I can focus on is movies.

This is what happens when you move to a new area and start to spend a lot of quality time with a very quality person like the man in my life. Living close to Philly really agrees with me. I had no idea how much I missed Nordstroms - I missed it SO MUCH, I absolutely LOVE living near a mall that has one.

The man in my life and I also went to see the new Johnny Depp film "Public Enemies" [don't worry no spoilers here]. I really enjoyed the costumes, the sets and of course the Johnny Depp but the shaky camera work left me very seasick. It was like the Blair-witch-Johnny-Depp project and it really took away from the film. I am surprised by the poor filming choice in what could have been an interesting film. I recommend seeing it on DVD/Blueray so you can take breaks or multiple trips to the restroom. I think I'm still a little dizzy.

The other movie on my mind at the moment is Harry Potter. My mom is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. She even got one of the books the first day it came out. She has a lot of the books on tape and has seen every single movie at least once. I have known her to put on her "cutesy" voice and quote Harry Potter books repeatedly - although in her defense she has not done this in awhile.

Well my Mom is going to be absolutely delighted because on the DAY the new Harry Potter opens the wonderful man in my life wants to take me to see the new film. I am having dark visions of standing in long lines and overcrowded theatres and suggested waiting until next week but the sweet man in my life wants to go right away so I am doing my best to push those dark clouds out of my head and enjoy an evening out with him, we almost always have an excellent time and he is a dear sweet wonderful human being. And making my mom happy.

The last movie on my mind is "Julie and Julia" about a blogger and Julia Child. I love Julia Child. As a little girl I would watch PBS and I always found her amusing plus I do want to learn to cook properly some day.

While I was living in DC the Smithsonian's History Museum had a temporary display of her kitchen showing absolutely everything with all of the drawers exposed as if frozen in mid air, I remember 2 pairs of disposable chopsticks and was very pleased by that as well as the chance to see her kitchen up close. I wish it had been better advertized and that more people could have seen it - I must have gone at least 3 times since I lived so close and each time I noticed another interesting thing about Julia's Kitchen.

The movie "Julie and Julia" has cast Meryl Strep as Julia Child and I must admit I am looking more forward to seeing that movie than the new Harry Potter - sorry Mom! But I'm sure that I and the wonderful man in my life will have a great time tonight.

Being in a new location can take some getting used to but living 6.1 miles from the man in my life has some great advantages like movies after work on a Wednesday. Things are going really well here and I hope you are having as much fun in your life with the ones you love.

I heard that the "Public Enemies" movie was great! I am glad you enjoyed the costumes! And best of all it was good that you got to see it with your man ;)
